HONG KONG: Stocks up 1.47pc at close
SHARES rose 1.47 per cent yesterday, following a Wall Street rally and after fiscal hawk Larry Summers pulled out of the race to become the new US Federal Reserve head.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 337.13 points to 23,252.41 on turnover of HK$54.64 billion.
On the mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index shed 4.82 points to close at 2,231.40 on turnover of 133.6 billion yuan.
China Construction Bank rose 1.66 per cent to HK$6.14 while Industrial and Commercial Bank of China gained 1.47 per cent HK$5.40. AFP
