Europe: Stocks soar
LONDON: European stock markets soared yesterday, joining a global rally as investors welcomed the US Federal Reserve's surprise decision to keep its vast stimulus policy unchanged, dealers said.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of top companies jumped 1.46 per cent to 6,654.80 points in afternoon.
Frankfurt's DAX 30 gained 0.91 per cent to 8,714.80 points, pushing further into record territory, and the CAC 40 in Paris rose 0.65 per cent to 4,197.69, a level unseen since the global financial crisis began in 2008. Meanwhile, Milan climbed 1.27 per cent and Madrid appreciated by 1.10 per cent.
The US Fed decided overnight to hold off from winding down its quantitative easing in a move which confounded market expectations. Agencies
