Hong Kong: Rises on upbeat China data
SHARES rose one per cent yesterday as upbeat Chinese data offset concerns about the US government shutdown.
The Hang Seng Index rose 229.92 points to 23,214.40 on turnover of HK$53.26 billion.
On the index, Sands China rallied 3.2 per cent to HK$50.25, Galaxy Entertainment was up 5.1 per cent at HK$58.70, Bank of China gained 1.69 per cent to HK$3.60, Bank of Communications added 1.40 per cent to HK$5.78 while Bank of East Asia fell 0.30 per cent to HK$32.90.
Meanwhile, the Shanghai market was closed for a public holiday. AFP
