MCCANN Worldgroup Asia-Pacific bagged "Network of the Year" and its agency, McCann Melbourne, was named "Agency of the Year" at the 2013 Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity in Singapore last week.
McCann Worldgroup agencies dominated the event and won eight Grand Prix awards, 14 Gold Spikes, 11 Silver Spikes, and 11 Bronze Spikes.
The winnings were shared by McCann Worldgroup agencies in Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Mumbai, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila and Melbourne.
McCann Malaysia was awarded a Bronze Spike for its BMF89.9 radio spot "Dracula".
Designed to draw more listeners to tune in to the station's already popular "Bookmark programme", Bram Stoker's classic vampire story is brought eerily to life through sound effects ingeniously created using books.
This radio spot is one of several in the BFM89.9 "Feed Your Imagination" campaigns.
McCann Malaysia president Michael Constantine said: "It's gratifying to see this already highly awarded work continue to receive the international creative accolades it deserves."
Charles Cadell, McCann Worldgroup president for Asia Pacific, said the success of the McCann agencies in the region this year is an impressive creative turnaround with more agencies now contributing to its success than ever before.
"Melbourne is leading the charge but all our agencies now have the bit between the teeth. It's a good ride," he said.
Harris Diamond, chairman and chief executive officer of McCann Worldgroup, said: "This is just an astounding achievement for the McCann network across the fast-growing and highly innovative Asia-Pacific region."
He added that for its Asia-Pacific operations to be named "Network Of The Year" is a thrilling and powerful recognition from its industry peers.
