Hong Kong: Index declines 0.36pc
STOCKS ended 0.36 per cent lower yesterday as dealers nervously await a budget agreement in Washington to avoid a US debt default.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index lost 82.67 points to finish at 22,951.30 on turnover of HK$55.74 billion.
Cosmetics retailer Sa Sa fell 5.9 per cent to HK$8.20 while China Unicom lost 2.18 per cent to HK$12.58.
"I think there is still risk for the HSI to pierce 22,500 in the next few days," Steven Leung, head of institutional sales at UOB Kay Hian, told Dow Jones Newswires, citing US debt worries. AFP
