KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Honda CR-V was unveiled yesterday with Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd expecting it to reaffirm its status as the class leader in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment here.

Honda Malaysia expects to sell 7,000 units of the award-winning fourth generation CR-V by year-end.

Nearly 1,000 bookings had been received prior to the launch, Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive Yoichiro Ueno said.

The new CR-V is the first CKD (completely knocked down) model launch for Honda Malaysia in 2013, Ueno noted.

It also marked the 10th anniversary milestone for Honda CKD vehicles in Malaysia as the first generation CR-V was the first model to roll out from its factory in Malacca.

At RM148,800, the new CR-V's retail price is slightly lower than the outgoing model. This is possible as it has more local contents, Ueno said.

In responding to customer feedback who requested for a higher performance version, Honda Malaysia will offer the 2.4L variant in June at about RM190,000.

Honda Malaysia offers a five-year warranty with unlimited mileage and a new service interval of 10,000km to provide the best ownership experience for the new CR-V.

In addition, new CR-V owners are entitled to six times free labour services alternating with paid services. Supporting this new service package are 62 Honda dealerships nationwide.
