Hong Kong: Stocks close 0.55pc higher
SHARES closed 0.55 per cent higher yesterday, following a lead from Wall Street as dealers bet that the budget gridlock that has shut down the US government will be resolved soon.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index climbed 124.62 points to 22,984.48 on turnover of HK$55.15 billion.
A day after the US government shut down for the first time in 17 years, lawmakers remain at loggerheads over the budget, with Democrats refusing to give in to Republican demands for cuts in President Barack Obama's flagship health law. AFP
