SHARES closed 1.41 per cent higher yesterday following another record finish for the Dow on Wall Street and after China released data showing exports had surged more than expected in February.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index climbed 320.51 points to 23,091.95 on turnover of HK$72.18 billion.

In China Beijing said its exports surged a better-than-expected 21.8 per cent year-on-year in February despite the Chinese New Year holiday. This has lifted hopes for the economy, while imports fell 15.2 per cent. AFP
