SHARES fell 0.61 per cent yesterday after Chinese data showed growth in manufacturing activity on the mainland had slowed last month.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index slipped 140.05 points to 22,880.22 on turnover of HK$77.69 billion.

Chinese conglomerate Citic Pacific dropped 5.5 per cent to HK$11.38 after enjoying a 7.6 per cent jump on Thursday, while Sun Hung Kai Properties lost 1.9 per cent to HK$117.70 after lowering its full-year property sales target.

Chalco tumbled 4.8 per cent to HK$3.19 in its last session trading as a blue- chip stock. AFP
