SHARES ended flat yesterday, with late buying helping to offset earlier losses that were fuelled by profit-taking from previous day's gains.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index edged down 6.40 points to 22,771.44 on turnover of HK$64 billion.

The index has fallen 4.9 per cent from its 2013 high on February 4.

Utility operator Power Assets rose 1.3 per cent to HK$71.65 after saying net profit was up seven per cent in 2012 and Orient Overseas slid 1.7 per cent to HK$54.95 despite the container shipper reporting a net profit jump of 63 per cent. AFP
