Europe: Stocks retreat
LONDON: European stock markets pulled back yesterday as traders looked ahead to a key policy meeting of the US Federal Reserve due this week.
Trading volume was down in London as heavy storms in Britain kept many dealers away from their desks.
"The pre-emptive action taken by various train companies ahead of the expected stormy weather has meant a somewhat deserted City of London this morning and this is being reflected in volumes so far," said chief market strategist at IG trading group.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index slipped 0.11 per cent to stand at 6,713.77 points in afternoon deals.
Frankfurt's DAX 30 slid 0.16 per cent to 8,971.38 points and Paris's CAC 40 fell 0.60 per cent to 4,246.57 compared with Friday's closing values. AFP
