Hong Kong: Index edges down 1.5pc
SHARES closed 1.50 per cent lower yesterday as a budget stand-off in Washington threatens to shut down some parts of the US government.
The Hang Seng Index lost 347.18 points to 22,859.86 on turnover of HK$53.24 billion.
Traders seemed unmoved by data showing Chinese manufacturing expanded in September, indicating that a rebound was picking up.
Power Assets Holdings bucked the broad declines, rising 2.6 per cent to HK$69.40 after the company said it plans to spin off its Hong Kong utilities business. AFP
