KUALA LUMPUR: The 10th International Exhibition of Transmission & Distribution and Electrical Engineering for the Asean region (Asean Elenex) 2013, which will be hosted by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), is expecting some 8,000 trade visitors.

TNB's chief corporate officer, Datuk Roslan Ab Rahman, said the exhibition will serve as an excellent platform for industry players to exchange ideas, experience and knowledge in order to meet the energy needs of Malaysia and the region.

"We have over 450 companies from around the world exhibiting here, with an expected increase in trade visitors over the last show two years ago.

"This provides an incredible opportunity for local and foreign industry players to access the latest technologies to improve energy generation, transmission and distribution," Roslan said during a press conference for Asean Elenex 2013 here yesterday.

Asean Elenex, which is held biannually, is a platform for local and foreign industry players to assess latest technologies to improve energy generation, transmission and distribution.

The exhibition will also feature renewable energy, in line with the government's commitment to reducing its dependence on fossil fuel sources. It will start from March 20 to 23 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Companies taking part include TNB, ABB Malaysia, Alpha Automation, Axis Electrical Components (I) Pvt Ltd, Toshiba Transmission and Distribution and Universal Cable (M) Bhd.
