KUALA LUMPUR: Communications consultancy Ming KH & Associates Sdn Bhd started off the Year of the Snake with seven wins and two new appointments to boost the servicing team.

The firm welcomed the Chinese New Year by bagging the American International Assurance Malaysia (AIA Malaysia) contract after a four-way pitch.

Ming KH principal Leong Ming Chong said the team is excited to be working with Malaysia's top life insurer, especially with the completion of its acquisition of ING Malaysia.

The company had earlier won projects from Bahrain Economic Development Board, CFA Institute and Britain's University of Reading, which engaged its services for its EduCity campus in Nusajaya, Johor.

According to K.H. Lim, the other principal of the firm, all three wins were secured in collaboration with its foreign partners in Singapore and London.

"We have also won the pitch for an AIM-listing exercise involving the acquisition of a Malaysian bio-technology company at the forefront of nano-technology," added Lim, referring to the London Stock Exchange's high-growth market, formerly known as Alternative Investment Market.

In January, Ming KH was entrusted by a top five corporate travel agency in Malaysia, Sedunia Travel, to announce its appointment as the general sales agent for Globus family of brands - the leading global tour operator that handles half a million tourists a year.

The firm was also appointed to manage the Malaysian launch of the Korean-based dr. dream dermatological skincare products.

The firm's servicing team has also been enhanced with the appointment of Tan May Lee as client services director and the promotion of Bonnie Liew as public relations (PR) manager.

Tan, a PR practitioner with 12 years' experience, has worked with listed developers Eastern & Oriental Bhd and Ireka Corp Bhd.

She joins Ming KH to lead the client servicing team to provide strategic counsel across its portfolio of clients.

Meanwhile, Liew, a management science graduate from Universiti Sains Malaysia, was an auditor with a re-insurance firm before finding her calling in PR.

She was previously with an international consultancy for two years, working on healthcare, financial and fast-moving consumer goods clients before joining Ming KH as senior PR executive.
