Maclaurin to head new Axiata unit from Jan 1
KUALA LUMPUR: Axiata Group Bhd has promoted its internal talent to head up a new unit, e.co, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its human capital.
Axiata chief financial officer James Maclaurin will vacate his post by year-end to move to the new unit as chief executive officer from January 1 next year.
Other internal talents who will join Maclaurin are Nashad Emir and Thivanka Rangala as chief operating officer and chief financial official, respectively.
Axiata group president and chief executive Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim said the group is in a unique position with access to talents from within - developed over a decade of operations in the Asian region.
"It is this strength in our leadership that has brought us to this very important point in our strategic journey of reinventing ourselves to become a new generation telco."
e.co will own and manage the passive network infrastructure of the Axiata group as a business and will have subsidiaries in most of its markets.
Replacing Maclaurin will be Chari TVT, chief financial officer of Celcom Axiata Bhd.
Chari, who held the position for more than four years, is responsible for many initiatives that contributed to the excellent financial performance of Celcom over the last few years.
