AmBank aims to grow online transactions
KUALA LUMPUR: AmBank (M) Bhd aims to grow its online transaction business to 30 per cent by year-end from 10 per cent, riding on the consumers trend of doing shopping or transactions via the Internet.
AmBank senior general manager for financial solutions (retail banking) Wong Jee Seng said the bank currently has a customer base of five million, of which 30 per cent has the potential to do their shopping or other business transactions via e-commerce.
"The partnership with Rakuten online shopping is part of our ongoing investment in strengthening our foothold inthe e-commerce landscape," Wong said here yesterday after signing a partnership agreement with Rakuten.
AmBank has forged an alliance with Japan's Rakuten online shopping for a series of six joint promotions throughout their one-year contract, which starts tomorrow.
To kick off the partnership, Rakuten has integrated AmBank into its payment facility, of which customers can make direct payments for their purchases via AmOnline or any AmBank credit cards.
AmBank is launching their first joint promotion, the "AmOnline Rakuten Shop and Win", of which purchases of more than RM13 by customers will give them the chance to win prizes sponsored by Rakuten's key merchant, Best Denki. Prizes include Panasonic 50-inch television, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Asus Nexus 7-inch tablet.
The promotion starts tomorrow and ends on March 31.
