JOHOR BARU: With the increasing popularity of European automotive brands, Nasim Sdn Bhd aims to capture 15 per cent of the market share this year with its Peugeot line-up.
This will see sales of up to 7,000 units of Peugeot cars compared with 6,114 units last year.
Nasim chief operating officer Datuk Samson Anand George said last year, the country's overall sales of passenger and commercial vehicles were 627,753 units.
"Our Peugeot Diwali 408 is the top-selling model, with demand exceeding supply," he said at the launch of the company's RM1 million showroom, Peugeot Nusajaya, which is owned and and operated by Autoportal Sdn Bhd, on Tuesday.
Also present were its Automobiles Peugeot area director for Asean countries Vincent Comyn and Autoportal managing director Yeong Siew Fong.
Samson is confident that Peugeot will do well in Johor as the European car market expanded by 37 per cent in the state, outperforming the overall market growth.
"In addition, we will be opening a larger sales, service and parts and showroom (3S) in Tampoi here by the first quarter of 2015," he said.
The new 3S facility will be built to the tune of RM3 million and is expected to have a minimum of 10 service bays to cater for the growing market.
The company will open four more outlets by the end of the year, bringing the total number of outlets to 30 nationwide.
The new outlets will be in Kuantan and the Klang Valley.
As for next year, Samson said there are plans to open 10 outlets but the locations have not been determined yet.
