UK remains main mart for property investors
The UK will remain as the main market for Malaysian property investors in the next five years, said Knight Frank's
International Capital Markets Head, Jeremy Waters.
He said last year, Malaysian investments in the UK totalled US$5 billion and were likely to stay at about the same level in the next five years.
"Malaysian investors are among the top five in the world that invested heavily in London," he told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the 'Global Investment Report' today.
Malaysians were keen to invest in mixed development such as residential and commercial properties, he said.
Waters said Malaysian investors perceived the UK as a safe haven and were comfortable with the policies and laws of the country.
"In the long run, investment trends are also shifting to other parts of Western Europe and we can see more Malaysian investors having properties in France and Germany," Waters said.
