Perodua nine-month sales up 5.7pc
Perodua sales rose 5.7 per cent for the first nine months of the year to 147,400 units from 139,400 in the same period of 2012 mainly due to the introduction of the S-Series last March.
Its chief operating officer Zahari Husin said in a statement that the Perodua S-Series variants constitute almost 48 per cent of Perodua's total sales so far this year, with 40,700 sold, since being launched in March.
On a quarter-to-quarter basis, sales rose by 8.6 per cent to 50,500 units in the third quarter of 2013, compared with the 46,500 units sold in the same quarter last year.
Perodua sales in September jumped 26 per cent to 17,500 units from the 13,900 units for the same month of 2012.
"Demand for our vehicles is still healthy with nearly 20,000 bookings received in September. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we believe we can meet our year-end target of 194,000 units," Zahari said.
He added that outlook for the fourth quarter of the year looks bright for the industry in general, because of the many new model launches and aggressive campaigns over this quarter.
On after sales, Perodua saw 1.42 million vehicles visiting its service centres nationwide over the nine-month period, an increase of 100,000 vehicles when compared with the same period last year.-- Bernama
