Bursa Malaysia's Q3 PBT rises to RM64.46m
Bursa Malaysia Bhd's pre-tax profit for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2013 rose to RM64.46 million from RM53.97 million in the same quarter last year.
Its revenue increased to RM120.28 million from RM105.11 million previously.
For the nine months cumulative period, its pre-tax profit went up to RM197.28 million from RM165.27 million in the same period a year ago while revenue increased to RM361.07 million from RM320.35 million previously.
In a statement today, Bursa Malaysia attributed the performance to the buoyant securities market, which saw a marked increase in foreign trade value and the derivatives market.
For the period under review, trading revenue from the securities market registered a double-digit growth of 21 per cent bringing the current total to RM166.9 million.
The improved performance was derived from a higher average daily trading value of RM2.1 billion for the securities market as a result of increased domestic and foreign participation.
Bursa Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Tajuddin Atan said the company would improve the market infrastructure and deliver new products and services in the coming months.
"We will also continue to focus on engaging both the retail and
institutional investors," he said.-- Bernama
