Ringgit opens lower against US dollar
The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar on subdued demand for the domestic unit, said dealers.
The local note was quoted at 3.2015/2045 per US dollar from 3.1940/1970 on Tuesday.
A dealer said most investors remained on the sidelines, awaiting news that could give fresh impetus to investors.
Meanwhile, the ringgit was also traded lower against other major currencies.
It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5612/5657 from 2.5570/5603 on Tuesday and declined to 3.2930/2968 from 3.2911/2959 versus the yen yesterday.
The local currency fell against the British pound to 5.1499/1564 from 5.1296/1350 yesterday and dropped to 4.3460/3514 from 4.3346/3393 on Tuesday.-- Bernama
