Ringgit opens higher on fresh demand
The ringgit opened slightly higher against the US dollar fresh demand for the domestic unit, said dealers.
At 9.02am, the local note was quoted at 3.1850/1880 per US dollar from Monday's close of 3.1880/1910.
A dealer said the greenback was under pressure due to absence of any progress on the US budget standoff.
Meanwhile, the ringgit was traded mixed against other major currencies.
The local note depreciated against the yen to 3.2937/2975 from 3.2883/2931 on Monday but was slightly higher against the Singapore dollar at 2.5511/5539 from yesterday's 2.5518/5544.
The local currency fell against the British pound to 5.1256/1317
from 5.1234/1286 on Monday but advanced against the euro to 4.3233/3287 from 4.3312/3362 yesterday.-- Bernama
