GAMUDA Bhd, an infrastructure and property development outfit, is the best managed medium cap company in Malaysia, according to Asiamoney, a leading regional financial magazine in Asia.
In a statement yesterday, Gamuda said it was accorded “Best Managed Company in Malaysia - Medium Cap” for 2013 at the Asiamoney Awards 2013 held in Hong Kong recently.
Asiamoney awards companies and executives from each major economy in the Asia-Pacific region for exceptional management, resulting in strong financial performance and revenue growth on
a yearly basis.
Gamuda said it was given the title based on its foresight, innovative engineering solutions and exceptional project management expertise that positioned the company as the leading expert in rail construction and tunnelling in Malaysia today.
Its track record includes the design and construction of the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) and the ongoing Ipoh-to-Padang Besar electrified double-track project.
Gamuda, through MMC-Gamuda KVMRT Sdn Bhd, is also project delivery partner for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit-Sungai Buloh-Kajang line.
Early this year, MMC-Gamuda won a contract worth RM8.28 billion for tunneling works for the Sungai Buloh-Kajang line.
MMC-Gamuda is a 50:50 joint venture between MMC Corp Bhd and Gamuda.
Gamuda’s unbilled construction orderbook stoods at RM3.5 billion as at the end of fiscal year 2013.
Maybank IB Research said in its research report that Gamuda’s earnings growth would be anchored by its firm construction orderbook and further driven by strong property earnings as it leverages on its stellar locked-in property sales.
