Share prices mixed at mid-afternoon
KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-afternoon, helped by gains in finance and selected heavyweight counters, dealers said.
At 3 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) improved 2.44 points to 1,772.79.
Public Bank gained 12 sen to RM17.84, Maybank rose two sen to RM9.83 and Hong Leong Bank added four sen to RM14.18.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 32.01 points to 16,461.39, the Industrial Index added 8.73 points to 3,047.13 while the Plantation Index lost 27.3 points to 8,326.99.
The FBM Emas Index added 6.38 points to 12,322.22, while the FBMT100 rose 7.24 points to 12,060.84.
The FBM70 Index fell 30.15 points to 14,024.46 and the FBM Ace Index lost 12.81 points to 5,472.99.
Market breadth was negative with losers trouncing gainers 342 to 283 while 342 counters were unchanged, 636 untraded and 14 others suspended.
Volume stood at 1.08 billion shares worth RM636.92 million.
Among actives, The Media Shoppe rose one sen to 18 sen, Pelikan Int added 6.5 sen to 71.5 sen but Karambunai-ORD declined one sen to 5.5 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Axiata and CIMB were flat at RM6.90 and RM7.48 respectively, while Sime Darby rose one sen to RM9.52. -- Bernama
