Malaysia Airline System Bhd (MAS) expects to rake in RM20 million in transactions at the Malaysia International Travel
Mart Travel Fair 2013 (MITM 2013) from October 4-6, 2013.
Its regional senior vice president Malaysia, Muzammil Mohamad, said the transactions, however, were expected to be lower than at the Malaysia Association of Tours and Travel Agent (MATTA) fairs in March and September due to the lack of available seats this year and the early purchases for next year's packages.
"This year we only have October, November and December. Only three months left. Besides, there are not many seats available for travel this year.
"Some people have already bought the seats at the MATTA fairs that we participated," he told a media briefing today.
He said MAS recorded RM150 million and RM100 million in transactions at the MATTA fairs in March and September, respectively.
At MITM 2013, MAS will offer travel enthusiasts a wide range of
value-for-money deals and travel packages with discounts of up to 50 per cent on selected destinations for travel period from October 6 this year to September 30, 2014, he said.
MAS is offering an all-inclusive return economy class fares, starting from RM339 to Jakarta, Phuket and Yangon while from RM3459 to Los Angeles.
For any destinations in Asia, the price will start from RM659 to Medan; RM1059 to Bali, Ho Chi Minh and Bandar Seri Begawan and RM1359 to Bangkok.
Muzammil said MITM fair offered a good opportunities for customers to grab value deals for air travel and vacations.
"It is also a good platform for the airline to foster ties with its key partners to develop tourism resources for better travel options," he said.
He said the customers could insure their travels with MAS' travel insurance underwritten by Etiqa Insurance Bhd, MHinsure.
"At this fair, we have 22 appointed MAS agents to assist visitors at the fair which will be held at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre," he said.
Meanwhile, MITM chairman Annie Ng said the fair will see the
participation of 70 exhibitors with 303 exhibition booths.
"It is expected to attract over 70,000 visitors and achieve an estimated RM40 million in gross sales turnover," she said.
Ng said MITM was optimistic of achieving the target with the strong support from MAS and its unit, Firefly.
Admission to the fair is free.-- Bernama
