Matrade to lead mission to Jakarta
The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) will lead a delegation of local creative content and
multimedia companies to Indonesia on a specialised marketing mission to intensify opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.
In a statement today, Matrade said the mission, from Sept 17 to 20 in Jakarta, would be joined by a delegation of 28 local creative content and multimedia companies.
"Matrade is continuously enhancing participation of local companies in the services sector, and the information and communications technology (ICT) is among the services sectors with high potential in the Asean region.
"Within ICT, the creative content and multimedia sector offers vast opportunities for cooperation and collaboration that can be further expanded due to the vibrant industry," it said.
The mission includes business matching and networking programmes arranged by Matrade Jakarta with Indonesian broadcasters and distributors.
Matrade said Jakarta is an attractive market destination, being the centre for Indonesia’s entertainment and content industry, to reach to Indonesia’s vast population of approximately 250 million people.
"Since 2010, almost all players in Indonesia have launched expansion in data services business, mainly attributable to individual subscribers while it (data services) is also expected to expand in the entertainment and infotainment sector.
"Analysts estimate that the data communication business in Indonesia will grow 10 per cent annually, confirming the potential of growing demand for Internet/mobile phone-related applications/content as well as for niche/creative solutions in the market," it added.-- Bernama
