Bank Rakyat posts healthy financial results

Bank Rakyat Bhd posted a record profit before tax and zakat for its financial year ended December 31, 2012, jumping 4.7 per cent to RM2.11 billion against 2011.

Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob attributed the strong showing to the bank's healthy financing and deposits.

"This is coupled with strong asset quality, despite the challenges in the local banking industry," he told reporters after a briefing to announce Bank Rakyat's 2012 financial result in Kuala Lumpur today.
