Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd's pre-tax profit for financial year ended December 31, 2012 rose to RM37.85 million from RM24.43 million in the same period of 2011.

Revenue increased to RM676.34 million from RM534.87 million previously, it said in its filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

Ahmad Zaki said the better financial results were due to strong order book and progress work for the construction division.

"The division performed well in its year todate performance by contributing a total of RM599 million in revenue, representing an increase of RM156 million than preceding year," it said.

It said the construction division was expected to remain competitive in the current financial year.

"Order book prospects remain strong," it said.

Ahmad Zaki said the oil and gas division was expected to maintain its performance as there were no expected changes in business environment.

It said the plantation division was expected to reduce its operating loss gradually due to increasing yield per hectare in the medium term.-- Bernama
