Sime Darby Bhd's second quarter profits ended December 31 2012 shrank 36 per cent to RM708.5 million, mainly due to low palm oil prices.

Group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Bakke Salleh is cautiously optimistic of results for remaining half of financial year as palm oil prices have started to creep up.
