Hong Kong: Index recovers 1.16pc
STOCKS rose 1.16 per cent yesterday amid hopes United States President Barack Obama and the Republicans will agree a deal to raise the country's debt ceiling and avoid a default.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 267.02 points to finish at 23,218.32.
Game developer NetDragon Websoft was the biggest gainer, rising 9.7 per cent after the company said it would pay HK$7.77 a share in special dividends following the sale of mobile-game operator 91 Wireless.
China Overseas Land surged 1.04 per cent to HK$24.35. AFP
