British luxury mobile phone retailer Vertu has opened its first store in Malaysia, joining the growing number of luxury retail brands here.

Based in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, the outlet is operated by the Valiram Group, which also represents many of the world's most recognised luxury brands including Montblanc, Hermes and Bally.

Vertu makes luxury mobile phones. Their products are often emblazoned with rare gemstones, exotic leather, or precious metals such as gold and titanium.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz, said the Valiram Group has helped bring many high quality products to the country.

"They are constantly pushing the boundaries of retailing in the country," he said after opening Vertu's outlet yesterday.

The newly-opened boutique was built in a manner that reflected the brand's theme and concept.

Brushed steel surfaces and soft black leather trims encased in the boutique's gloss and matte black faceted walls all aim to create a synergy between Vertu's products and its presentation.

Valiram Group director Ashvin Valiram said the boutique signifies its continuous pursuit of delivering iconic and luxury brands to the Malaysian market.

In conjunction with the outlet's launch, Vertu also unveiled the new Constellation Quest mobile phone which will be available locally next year.
