Guru Jim Rogers headlines Citigold series in KL
CITIGOLD is teaming up with world-renowned commodities guru, Jim Rogers, to host the Citigold Wealth Management Leadership Series on Saturday, August 23, at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur. This will be Rogers' first public appearance in Malaysia.
Citigold is Citibank's wealth management arm for high net worth individuals, with a minimum portfolio value of RM200,000.
Jim Rogers, who co-founded the Quantum Fund, a global investment partnership, also has the distinction of establishing the successful Rogers International Commodity Index, a composite US dollar based total return index. Since its launch a decade ago, the index has risen by 418.51 per cent.
Rogers will be exclusively addressing Citigold clients at the Citigold Wealth Management Leadership Series in Kuala Lumpur, Citi said in a statement.
He has been quoted as saying that the current rally in the commodities market may continue through 2014 to 2022.
The author of "Hot Commodities: How Anyone Can Invest Profitably in the World's Best Market", is also known to have mentioned in his book that the 20th century saw three long commodities bulls (1906-1923, 1933-1953, 1968-1982), each lasting an average of a little more than 17 years.
Historically, commodities have a negative correlation with both stocks and bonds. In other words, when these securities fall in price, commodities tend to head north, Citi said in a statement.
In the beginning of 2008, while global stock markets plunged, prices of commodities such as gold, crude oil, wheat and palm oil have hit all-time highs. Commodities are also considered a good hedge against inflation and a powerful tool for diversifying one's investment portfolio.
