This allows the car to communicate its service needs to a BMW server when a particular service is due. The information is then relayed to the customer's dealership of choice which in turn will contact the owner to set a convenient time for the required service within 24-48 hours from the time the service is triggered.
"Using experience gained from Formula 1, BMW pioneered intelligent diagnosis-based servicing. The functionality of BMW TeleServices ensures more road time for the driver, and allows customers to enjoy access to high-calibre technology and services," BMW Group Malaysia corporate affairs manager Vijayaratnam Tharumartnam said in a statement.
He said since BMW Teleservices provides a specific service profile for each vehicle, the dealership can have all the necessary spare parts ready prior to the service date. On the appointed date and time, the customer simply has to bring in the vehicle and work can begin immediately with minimal diagnostic.
All BMW owners in Malaysia whose vehicles come with bluetooth preparation and navigation professional system will get to enjoy this benefit from March.
