MITSUBISHI Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd's vehicles sales shot up 65.2 per cent to 4,881 units in the first eight months of this year, from 2,955 units in the same period in 2007.

In a statement, the company said the Triton pick-up truck achieved remarkable sales growth with 3,209 units sold up to August, up 33.7 per cent from the same period last year.

This makes Mitsubishi Motors' pick-up truck the country's second most popular pick-up truck with a 19 per cent share of the segment.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia recently opened two new dealerships in Seremban and Kuantan.

"The launch of The Premium Century Mitsubishi Motors Seremban and Sendang Motor Mitsubishi Motors 3S centre in Kuantan reflects our strategy to expand the Mitsubishi network to serve our customers better," chief executive officer Keizo Ono said the statement.
