Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican has asked for more time to decide on the offer from the government after ending his service with Petronas.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday said Hassan wanted to settle personal matters first before making a decision.

Hassan's contract as president and chief executive officer of Petronas expired yesterday.

Najib had said in a statement last Wednesday he wanted to tap Hassan's experience and knowledge in the energy sector.

It was rumoured that Hassan had been offered the post of special adviser to the Prime Minister on gas.
