Aon Corp, the world's largest insurance broker, has teamed up with the Manchester United Football Club to launch the club's first insurance product in the country.

The insurance product, dubbed Red Protect, is primarily targeted at Manchester United fans aged 18 years and above who have a valid credit card. The product is underwritten by ACE Synergy Insurance Bhd.

Currently, it is believed that there are more than four million Red Devil fans in the country.

C.K Mak, chief executive officer of Aon Insurance Brokers (M) Sdn Bhd hopes that a substantial portion of the Manchester United fan base in the country will sign up to the product within the first few months.

"We would be very happy to sign up 400,000 fans during the initial period of the launch, I don't see it as an impossible goal, as Manchester United fans are passionate and we believe they will support the product," said Mak.

Mak added that Malaysia is the first country chosen to launch the Red Protect campaign.

"With the launch of Red Protect and continued success of the club, we are confident that the Manchester United brand will continue to grow and win over new fans in equal measures," said Rajbir Singh Nanra, country president and executive director of ACE Insurance Malaysia.

The way Red Protect works is very simple. All fans have to do is to register at www.redprotect.my, and provide some personal details. Then they have the opportunity to answer some trivia questions about the club and say why they should be sent to Old Trafford. They will be then entitled to take part in the online "scratch and sure win" contest.

Those who register will receive a two months free Red Protect personal accident coverage valued at RM5,000 or official club merchandises or both. They will also give the fans the chance to win the grand prize of two return air tickets and accommodation to see Manchester United play Everton on April 21 2012 at Old Trafford.
