TOKYO: Deflation in Japan accelerated in October, with core consumer prices down 2.2 per cent from a year earlier, the government said yesterday.
The key consumer price index, which excludes volatile fresh food prices, has fallen for eight months, posing a threat to Japan’s economic recovery.
The result was worse than Kyodo news agency’s forecast for a 2 per cent drop.
