PROTON Holdings Bhd will spend RM7 million to retrofit rear centre lap seatbelts for about 226,000 units of Saga and Gen2 models manufactured between 2004 and 2008.

“For Peninsular Malaysia, the exercise started on December 1, while for Sabah and Sarawak, it will begin on January 1 next year,” said managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.

He said Proton will retrofit the seatbelts for free at all 380 Proton Edar and EON Bhd Service branches nationwide. — Bernama
