MALAYSIA'S premier direct to home satellite multi-channel television operator, Astro (5076) is investing more than RM30 million for its Kampus Astro.

Kampus Astro is a strategic initiative to provide access to world class educational and informative content and experiences to enrich the lives of Malaysians.

Astro chief executive officer Rohana Rozhan said Malaysian viewers have shown a keen interest for learning and education contents as indicated in the consistently high take up rate of its learning package at nearly 80 per cent of its total customer base of 2.5 million.

As part of its corporate responsibility initiation, Astro will provide a personal video recorder, a television set and access to its international and local learning contents to over 10,000 primary and secondary government schools including teachers’ activity centres nationwide.
The three-year programme will start in schools in Sabah and Sarawak early next year to ensure some of the schools in the rural and remote areas are able to access learning contents on television via Astro’s satellite technology. — Bernama
