Cerebos to spend RM75m on new plant
CEREBOS Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a major player in Malaysia’s health supplement industry with its Brand’s Essence of Chicken, plans to invest RM75 million to build a factory to meet the growing demand for its products.
The new plant in Shah Alam is needed because its plant in Petaling Jaya ias running at almost full capacity, said Its general manager, Koh Joo Siang.
“We have no choice but to move to a bigger production area. The plan now is to meet the demand for the next five to 10 years,” he said after naming local singer, Camelia, as ambassador for Brand’s InnerShine.
According to Koh, the new factory is expected to boost its capacity to 1.8 million bottles per month for all the ranges from 800,000 bottles now.
He said the new plant is also expected to support Cerebos’ growth in turnover targets for the financial year ending September 30, 2009 and for the next 10 years.
Cerebos’ product range is divided into four categories — Essence of Chicken, Bird’s Nest, InnerShine (fruit essence) and tablet form.
Its flagship product is Brand’s Essence of Chicken, which has close to 95 per cent market share of the local essence of chicken health supplement market.
Koh said to meet consumer demand for healthier life, Cerebos is set to launch at least two more products next year.
On whether the global financial crisis has affected the company’s sales, Koh said: “At the moment, we have not seen a slowdown in our sales. In fact, our sales last month grew by 30 per cent. So, we have not really felt any impact of the economic slowdown.”
He said despite the difficult circumstances the company is still optimistic about the demand for the health products as people still put health as a high priority list. — Bernama
