MALAYSIA Airlines (MAS) is extending its "Everyday Low Fares" campaign to all its Asean destinations and selected routes between Malaysia and China next week.

The national carrier will offer one million seats to customers, its executive director and chief financial officer, Tengku Datuk Azmil Zahruddin, said.

MAS may also extend the offer to more international destinations later.

The first international destination with a zero fare offer will be China, namely Kota Kinabalu-Hong Kong/Guangzhou.

The new launch will see MAS offer zero fares to 24 destinations in Asean including China.

The campaign is available for travel to and from Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines and Brunei.

Bookings are open from May 21 until June 3 2008 for travel between July 1 and December 14 2008.

MAS first launched the low fare campaign with one million zero fares for all its domestic routes.

Azmil said the response to the domestic campaign has been overwhelming with over 150,000 seats sold.

"We are not losing any revenue from this as the seats represents 30 per cent of surplus seats which would otherwise be unsold," he said.

According to MAS senior general manager, Network Revenue, Datuk Bernard Francis, MAS has between three million to four million unsold seats in both the local and Asean routes.
