CREDIT Guarantee Corp Malaysia Bhd (CGC), in collaboration with Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) Malaysia Sdn Bhd, will organise the first SME Credit Bureau Seminar in Malaysia.

The main objective of the seminar is to create awareness of the role of the SME Credit Bureau and the benefits that it offers to its members, financial institutions and other credit providers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in general.

Supported by Bank Negara Malaysia, the event will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on May 27.

In a statement, CGC said the seminar will also serve as an important knowledge-sharing session for participants who will have the benefit of gaining global and regional perspective on matters related to SME credit bureaus.

CGC said during the half-day seminar, participants will have the opportunity to interact with the speakers and seek clarification or explanation on the role of the SME Credit Bureau in SME development and how they could enhance their credit worthiness, access to financing and business opportunities.

The SME Credit Bureau is a central databank of credit information on SMEs and will act as a key source of information on registration details, credit track records, debt level and obligations, financial statements and trade partners of SMEs.

With its establishment, industry players and the public will have access to the bureau reports such as business reports, SME profiles, trade credit, loan financing and credit ratings.

A presentation entitled "Effective Credit Management and Benefits of Credit Rating" will be held by the guest speaker Tony Lythgoe of the International Finance Corp - World Bank Group.

Entry is free and as seats are limited, those interested to participate are to call Hien at 03-78062300 ext 620 or Nor Azurah at ext 625 to confirm their participation.
